Shopify-Data Financial Audit Checklist

Help me run a Shopify-data-only financial health check on my store — not a full compliance or bank-reconciliation audit.

Scope:

  Audit period: [LAST MONTH / LAST QUARTER / LAST YEAR]
  Sales channels to check: [LIST YOUR CHANNELS]


Revenue check (via ShopifyQL):

  Total gross sales, discounts, refunds, and net sales for the period, by sales channel
  Orders where the amount captured doesn’t match the order total (possible missing or duplicate transactions)
  Refund and return volume vs the trailing 90-day average — flag if more than [REFUND_THRESHOLD]% above average
  Gift card sales and redemption totals, and current outstanding gift card liability


Discount check:

  Total discount value given across all discount codes and automatic discounts for the period
  Top 10 discount codes by usage and by dollar amount given
  Any discount code with unusually high redemption vs its typical rate


Tax collected (via Shopify Tax reports):

  Total tax collected for the period, broken down by jurisdiction
  Jurisdictions with orders shipping to them where tax is currently NOT being collected: [LIST JURISDICTIONS TO CHECK]


Output:
Present findings as a short table with dollar amounts, and flag anything that deviates from the trailing average by more than [DEVIATION_THRESHOLD]%.

Note: this check only covers data inside Shopify. It does not reconcile against your bank account or payment processor statements, verify tax filing/remittance compliance, or audit expenses, app subscriptions, or inventory shrinkage — those need your accountant, bank statements, and a physical count, none of which Sidekick can access.
