Build Bookkeeping Workflow

Help me build a Shopify-only sales and payout review workflow using live store data — no accounting software connection required.

Business context:

  Store URL: [YOUR_STORE_URL]
  Monthly order volume: [APPROXIMATE ORDERS PER MONTH]
  Sales channels: [LIST YOUR CHANNELS]
  Review cadence: [DAILY / WEEKLY / MONTHLY]


Daily check (via ShopifyQL, ~5 minutes):

  Yesterday’s total orders, revenue, and refunds
  Any orders with a payment dispute or chargeback opened in the last 24 hours
  Any orders stuck in “payment pending” for more than [PENDING_HOURS] hours
  Today’s expected Shopify Payments payout amount and date


Weekly check (via ShopifyQL):

  Total revenue, refunds, and net sales for the last 7 days, by sales channel
  List of all payouts received in the last 7 days with amounts and dates
  Total discount value applied across all orders this week
  Orders where the payment captured doesn’t match the order total (if any)
  Top 10 products by revenue this week


Monthly check (via ShopifyQL):

  Full-month revenue, refunds, discounts, and net sales, compared to the previous month
  Total tax collected, broken down by jurisdiction (per Shopify Tax settings)
  Gift card sales and redemption totals for the month
  Chargeback and dispute summary for the month with current status


Output:
Present each check as a short table I can scan in under a minute, and flag anything that deviates from the trailing-30-day average by more than [DEVIATION_THRESHOLD]%. Save this as a Sidekick skill so I can re-run each section on its cadence.

Note: this workflow stays inside Shopify’s own order, payout, and tax data — it does not reconcile against your bank account or sync to accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.), since Sidekick has no access to those systems. Pair it with your accountant’s process for bank reconciliation and tax filing.
