Automate Return Request Processing

Help me automate the internal side of return-request triage on my Shopify store [STORE NAME]. I want the eligibility check and routing to happen automatically, but every customer-facing decision still goes through my team. Specifically:


  Create a Shopify Flow workflow that triggers when I (or my team) tag an order “return-requested”.
  Auto-check if the order is within the [NUMBER OF DAYS]-day return window based on delivery date.
  Check the line items against a “non-returnable” tag or category I maintain (e.g., [NON-RETURNABLE CATEGORIES]) and flag any that match.
  If eligible, tag the order “return-eligible” and add an order note summarizing the return reason.
  If ineligible, tag the order “return-ineligible” with the reason in the order note, so my team can review before responding to the customer.
  Once my team manually approves a return, use Shopify’s native return flow to generate a shipping label if we’re covering return shipping.
  Set a reminder tag/note if an approved return’s shipment isn’t received within [NUMBER OF DAYS] days.
  Automatically update inventory when the returned item is marked as inspected and restocked.
  Handle partial returns where only some items from an order are being returned, tagging just those line items.
  Build a ShopifyQL report of return volume by tag/reason for auditing.


Sending the actual approval or denial email to the customer is a step my team does manually after reviewing the tagged order — Sidekick flags and routes, it doesn’t message customers on its own.
